A New Look...

Hello! Welcome to the new site. I'm finally giving this site a complete overhaul-- bear with me as I detect and correct any broken links.

I'm also finally going to put in some proper galleries for all my other work. I've realized that I have so much work that has never been displayed on this site, so many fun things to share with you. The image above is a taste of some of my work that will be added over the next few months. Yes, months-- it's a slow process for me to go through all of my images. Plus I have so much work that I still need to document and digitize. I am excited to finally do this though so I'm going to do my best not to be too slow about it. In the meantime, I've added some newer photographs. I need to invest in a better scanner soon so I can continue to post new work. Maybe Santa will bring me one ;)

I've never been much of a blogger... but I'd like to keep this webpage fresh, so I might try to blog a little more often than usual. We'll see!

As part of Chicago Artists Month, selected members of Deadline Projects will exhibit work in one of Chicago's oldest and well-known annual art shows, the Around the Coyote Fall Arts Festival.

In addition to exhibiting art, Damien James, nikki hollander, Sarah Perez, and Shawn Stucky have been asked to speak about the benefits of working in a collective and how we develop our shows. This 40-minute presentation will take place as part of the ATC tour on Sunday, October 19th (please refer to the festival catalogue for exact time).

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: After 19 years in Wicker Park , Around the Coyote (ATC) is moving its fall emerging art festival to the West Loop. For this exciting, break-out exhibition, ATC has found a beautiful new venue for its 2008 Fall Arts Festival in one of Chicago 's most vibrant art neighborhoods. Some of the country's best undiscovered painters, sculptors, photographers, installation artists, printmakers, filmmakers, actors, performance artists, musicians and poets will exhibit, sell and perform their work - all under one roof.

Exploring the dialogue between art and energy, Deadline Projects presents Electric, a one-night-only multimedia art exhibition at Happy Dog Gallery in the heart of Wicker Park.

The word 'electric' in itself is powerful, exuding a dynamic vitality as well as literally referring to a source of energy. Each artist's interpretation of what is 'electric' serves as the inspiration for each work of art in the show. Participating local artists display new works using painting, photography, sculpture, stencil, collage, and video in an event designed to stimulate their audience.

Hello!

Welcome to the new blog. The old blog is still accessible but for some reason I can't post anything new on there anymore. I had the same problem with the guestbook so I decided to pitch them both and start anew. The whole site will be getting another facelift over the next month and I will be adding more of my newer work. Stay tuned! So many projects are in the works-- this year is going to be jam-packed with new art and plenty of shows. We have kicked our event planning up a few notches to put together a solid year of events. Bigger Than Your Life

A one-night art event not to be missed: Deadline Projects's one-year anniversary show!

Deadline Projects is proud to present Bigger than Your Life, a multi-media one-night art exhibition. This time around, Deadline Projects attempts to grapple with ideas that are bigger than our brains can handle and make sense of them using installation, print, painting, photography and sculpture.

We're all surrounded by things and concepts that are huge and unknowable in their entirety. The Iraq war is one example- it's so much bigger than any one person at this point, and as a single human we can have difficulty approaching the subject in a workable way. Or, technological progression- it moves so fast and touches so many parts of our lives, but the average person has very little input to direct and control it. We get caught up in these events and ideas without comprehending fully their true meaning, and the most common course of action is to ignore large parts of the problem and simply deal with what's in front of us.
